uBreakiFix cracking open the device screen repair market

For most people in our modern world it is hard to go without a smartphone for a day, so imagine the angst of having to replace a phone or part with it for days, weeks or maybe longer while it is repaired.  After his own frustrating experience with shattered phone screen, the founder of uBreakiFix, Justin Wetherill, thought of a tech repair solution that was fast, easy and affordable, in the form of a brick-and-mortar store with a 24-hour turnaround for screen replacement, along with other basic repairs.
The idea clicked with consumers who were enamored with the idea of being reunited with their beloved phones and devices without shipping them off to strangers who might do who knows what to them.  As the concept caught on, uBreakciFix expanded rapidly, becoming at $55million franchise; and within six years they had opened 130 stores around the country and Canada, and by 2016 they anticipate a total of 175 stores.
“In today’s society, we would rather part with our left arms than our cell phone for the weekend — let alone to send them across the States for repair in some guy’s basement,” said Wetherill, founder of uBreakiFix. “Replacement has been the only option for more than a decade because people have not had a reliable alternative.”

To be competitive with in-house or house-call services, iBreakiFix set their screen repairs prices at $69 to $299, with Samsung devices usually edging toward the higher prices, and iPhones on the lower end.  Typical products and prices for screen repair are iPhone 6 for $109.99 and Phone 5/5s/5c for $99.99 for screen damage in which the LCD is still functioning.
The service also can repair evices with water damage on a case-by-case basis. For each repair, a uBreakiFix technician performs a free diagnostic examination and provides a quote based on what needs to be replaced.  Other common repairs and replacements are batteries, ranging from $49.99 to $99.99.  The most popular devices requiring repair are iPhone, iPad, Samsung, and LG, in that order.
For peace of mind, all repairs carry a 90-day parts and labor warranty, so that any issues related to the repair within 90 days will be taken care of by uBreakiFix free of charge.
